Welcome to the womb of mother earth. The lodge/ inipi/ madiswoon/ temescal is a holy place among the stone people. Ancestors of rocks sit inside cradled and cooked in a sacred way. Purification of the heart, mind and spirit through fire, water and steam is an ancient practice with each round representing a theme. Each time you are more cooked not only in the grief but the energy of praise and new awakenings. 

As men we enter the lodge on hands and knees with humility and hold reverence for the ways we have been shown by our Elders along this path. We come to sing and to pray and crawl out like newborns with gratitude for the gift of life that we may show up more fully and be of greater service to our communities and living world. 

Notes: Feel free to call for the door anytime and we will offer water, and a break sometimes in the second round. There are four rounds total unless a buffalo or ghost round is called (a special addressed issue) please stay away from mind altering elements 4 days before and four days after. Please sit quietly and observe if you are a first timer. We look forward to this work and to receive you well. All my relations.

NICO KLADIS

Nico Kladis, MA is a facilitator and trauma informed psychotherapist trained in somatic-parts work with a culturally sensitive lens where personal healing and collective liberation can meet the conditions we are facing as a people, including our non-human kin. He is grateful to his Elders and teachers of multiple traditions. Nico is a steward of place based men’s work, grief tending and community based rites of passage and draws inspiration from the diverse ecosystems within and around the Salish Sea bio-region. He lives in Port Townsend, WA (s'Klallam/Chimakum land).
