ELIA YAKO SERRAS

LONGING & BELONGING - AN ECOSOMATIC INQUIRY

An EcoSomatic inquiry into being a loving and whole huMan during times of collapse.

I think of belonging as the embodied knowing of a kind of welcomeness for all parts and expressions of you, in your multifaceted authenticity. A culture of deep belonging recognizes the innate gift and value of each life, within the web of all life. Much of modernity is plagued by what I think of as the illness and spirit of not enough. This spirit co-arises with a sibling named too much. Just as the hungry ghost can never eat enough to satiate their hunger, modern humanity will continue to consume the Earth and seek other planets to colonize or go extinct trying. What is underneath this disembodied hunger? What are some of our basic human desires, needs and longings that underlie complex globalized omnicidal catastrophes? How do we want to show up as leaders, fathers, brothers, partners, uncles, elders-in-training during this time?

This workshop will be an opportunity to explore these questions through practices of embodiment, ritual, and land-listening. It is hard to face these realities, especially in isolation. May this be a collective inquiry, prayer, and beauty-making. An invitation to open our hearts together as a sane response to collective insanity.
